Bleaching

We offer “Zoom bleaching” which is an “ in-surgery” procedure. We protect the gums and sensitive parts of the teeth, which can allow us to use a stronger solution. The treatment takes about 1.5 hours, and we also provide you with customised trays which can be used for future “ top-ups”.

You can also do home bleaching where you use customised trays and a weaker bleaching gel. You will be required to wear the trays for an hour, twice per day.

Restorative

Restorations can be either ‘Direct” or ‘Indirect”.
Direct restorations are white coloured materials that are placed into the tooth and cured. They are then shaped and polished. These are suitable for smaller restorations.
Indirect restorations are made out of the mouth, and are then cemented or bonded to the tooth. These materials are harder than direct materials and offer the restoration and tooth more protection. They can be all ceramic, porcelain fused to metal or gold restorations. We use CEREC which allows us to do digital impressions and CAD/CAM technology to fabricate and fit a restoration in one visit.
These can be crowns, bridges inlays, onlays or porcelain veneers. They are used to treat extensively broken down teeth, cracked teeth, root treated teeth, or for anterior aesthetics.

Veneers

Veneers can be made of Porcelain or Composite. These are thin facings that are placed over the outside of the teeth, to treat damaged, discoloured or malaligned teeth. Minimal preparation of the tooth is generally required.

Orthodontics

We offer a full range of orthodontic services for adults and children.
Early intervention orthodontics- this treatment is for younger children who have not yet lost all their deciduous teeth. In some cases there will be benefit for palatal expansion, growth modification, or improvement of skeletal relationship that can be achieved at this stage.
Removable appliance- for minor corrections it may be possible to use a removable plate
Fixed appliance therapy- This involves putting brackets on the teeth, and is used for most of the orthodontic treatment. It is the treatment that offers the most control. Metal or clear (ceramic) brackets are available.

Invisalign- this utilises a series of sequential aligners. Patient wear each aligner for two weeks. Clear attachments need to be bonded to some teeth to facilitate the movement.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are used to replace missing teeth. Titanium screws are placed into the jaw and can be used to restore single or multiple missing teeth. They can be used to restore fully edentulous mouths with fixed or removable prosthesis.
Dr Chimes has been replacing and restoring implants for over 25 years. His experience has involved full mouth rehabilitations on implant supported prosthesis, immediate implants, and aesthetic restorations. We have a Cone Beam scanner which can be integrated with our CEREC technology, to produce surgical guides to ensure accurate placement of the implants.

Dentures

Dentures are removable prosthesis to replace missing teeth or  whole dentitions
They can be made with chrome cobalt frameworks, or flexible or hard acrylic.

Root canal therapy

This treatment is done to save a tooth when the nerve of the tooth is irreversibly damaged. Under isolation, the nerve of the tooth is carefully cleaned out, and the canals are shaped and thoroughly irrigated. A filling material is then placed into the canals to prevent any recurrent infection. We use Apex locators, rotary filing, magnification, ultra-sonic or subsonic irrigation to facilitate obtaining successful outcomes.

Periodontal treatment

This is treatment of gum disease that destroys the bone supporting the teeth. Periodontal disease results in bleeding gums, loose teeth and eventual tooth loss. The treatment required is cleaning to remove the deposits on the teeth and roots, followed by meticulous home maintenance. Sometimes surgery is required. Dr Chimes and his hygienist will diagnose and manage the treatment that is required.

Mouthguards

We provide customised mouthguards for children and adults, for a range of different sports.
Snoring and sleep apnoea:

Mandibular Advancement Splints are worn at night to open the airway and allow for better breathing while asleep. There can be serious health problems from not being able to breathe properly during sleep, and generally a sleep study will be required by a sleep physician to make a proper diagnosis. We can then fit you with an appropriate appliance.

Bruxism and splint therapy

It is very common for people to clench or grind their teeth at night. This can lead to damage of the teeth, cracked restorations or pain in the joint and facial muscles. This can be treated with an occlusal splint which is worn at night. There are various types and Dr Chimes will recommend the one appropriate for you.
